Upgraded to 4.0 now my Tiscali email does not work but it does with Internet Explorer?
I uploaded the new Firefox version 4 and when I access my Tiscali email account and open the mailbox it states 'you have undefined email' and will not let me into the 'inbox'. I can access my extra mail account which is TalkTalk. If I open Internet Explorer I can access and use my Tiscali email account no problem. I prefer to use Firefox as I have used for years but if I cannot fix this I will have to Internet Explorer.

I inadvertently gave you the wrong string yesterday. We're trying to make Tiscali think you're using the previous version of Firefox which it worked with. So the version number should have been 3.6.16 at the end instead of 4.0
Sorry folks, but the solution to use 4.0 in the post above this one is correct. Hope it doesn't confuse anyone.

Install this add-on which will allow you to switch the User Agent to IE8 without having to close Firefox: User Agent Switcher
There's an animation on the developer's site which illustrates how it works.

The main problem here in a nutshell is that Tiscali hasn't updated their email client to work with Firefox 4.0
thank you for your response. I added User Agent Switcher and using default agent clicked the IE 8 but still cannot access my tiscali inbox?

OK, try doing this please.
In the location bar at the top, type: about:config and hit Enter.
In the filter at the top, copy/paste the following: general.useragent.override This will display a blank page.
Right click anywhere in the blank area and choose "New" and then "String". In the dialog box which appears, copy/paste general.useragent.override again and click OK. The dialog box will remain on screen, but you'll see that name appear above where it previously said "Enter Preference Name".
Next, copy/paste the following: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:2.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0
Click OK and then go to File | Exit. Restart Firefox again and try and login to Tiscali.

hello Xircal, i have just used the original string using 4.0 you gave me and it worked okay so I can use the email with that figure? thank you for your support and guidance really appreciate your help. cheers Ladadd
If it works, then OK, I was right the first time. I thought about it last night and came to the conclusion it couldn't be correct which is why I amended it this morning. Oh well...

Brilliant! Many thanks - your remedy has corrected the TalkTalk/Tiscali problem brought on by a recent Firefox upgrade.
