How to sort mail in the order of decreasing size?
Thunderbird (Windows) shows option to sort mail by size, but it is greyed out so unable to sort this way. PFA image.
Can anyone explain how to make this work?
Thunderbird Info: Version 115.12.2 (64-bit)
Mail Server Info: (Gmail) Server Type: IMAP Mail Server Server Name: imap.gmail.com | Port: 993 Outgoing Server (SMTP): Google Mail - smtp.gmail.com (Default)
Synchoronisation and Storage settings: attached as image.
OS Info: Edition Windows 10 Home Single Language Version 22H2 Installed on 24-02-2021 OS build 19045.4651 Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.19060.1000.0
P.S. the purpose is to delete messages occupying the mailbox unnecessarily by going through them in the order of decreasing size. If there is another way to do this, that should also be fine.

Okay, I found this answer in reddit to a different question, through which I changed the default sort order to sort to decreasing mail size, which helped.
Still looking for a easier solution than having to go to settings > config editor > advanced preferences and change few parameters every time i need to change how the mail is being sorted.
The 'Sort by' options that are greyed out means you have not enabled that greyed out option as a Column header. So it cannot sort by something that is not a displaying column header.
Easy fix: Enable the column header called 'Size'. Then you can choose to sort by the 'Size' either by clicking on the 'Size' column header or via the 'Sort by' drop down list.
