I used to open a new empty tab by double clicking next to already opened tabs. This caused opening new one. This was removed in one of the updates :( I miss it a lot.

Does it work when you start Firefox with Add-ons disabled? (Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled)

  • Do NOT check any boxes when entering Safe Mode, just click to continue
  • If it works in Safe Mode, then an extension is causing the problem and you must determine which extension.
  • To exit Safe Mode, click Firefox button > Exit OR File > Exit, wait a few seconds (10-30) for Firefox to close completely, then use your Desktop icon to start Firefox.

That may be caused by having the tab bar in the windows title bar because the screen is maximized.

You can set the Boolean pref browser.tabs.drawInTitlebar to false on the about:config page.
