Thunderbird portable "crashed" => Switch to Thunderbird?
Hi, I worked with TB portable (TB P)for many years. Since sunday, TB P. does not show any folders anymore (see picture). I can search e-mails, open them, but can't reply (TB P) crashes.
Help in the chat was given, but did not solve the problem. I was told my TB P profile may be corrupt. But I think no one was able to tell me, how to fix it... I thought I may be a good idea to switch to "normal" Thunderbird. This workes, but I'm unable to import my old folders and messages from TB P. Is there a way to import this content from Thunderbird Portable into Thunderbird? All I found was a way to import data from outlook or other programs. But not TB P. What else could be done? Fresh install of TB P?
I'm stuck...
Any help is welcome
Thank you in advance
Michael

Okay, if profile is not corrupt, these steps should do it for you. 1. locate the profile in portable version, possibly at \data\profile within portable folder 2. move it to an easy-to-find place and give it an easy name, e.g. tbirdprofile 3. install thunderbird 4. start thunderbird - you will be prompted to create an email account. Ignore that and click HOME tab in upper left. 5. if menu bar is not visible, right-click near top of screen and right-click and activate menu bar 6. click help>more troubleshooting information. on that screen, scroll down to Profiles in left pane and click 'about:profiles' 7. on that screen, click 'create profile' button 8. on next pane, there are two steps. Do in sequence.
a. define a name for profile to thunderbird, e.g., myprofile b. click browse button to locate and select the profile you established in step 2 now finish and start thunderbird. all should work. If the profile is corrupt, more work will be needed.
