MAC OS 10.12 Thunderbird v.45.4. Trying to recover emails from Local Folders after using 'delete all emails' feature.
In attempting to cease my computer's receiving double email - in 'Local' at the same time as individual IMAP inbox folders receive (which still is unsolved and could use an assist) I chose to change options under Local Folders> Disk Space> 'To preserve disk space you can permanently delete all old messages'> and changed setting from 'Do not delete any emails' to 'Delete all but the most recent emails' choosing '1,' the lowest number. I used an extension and recovered emails through 2014. I have looked fairly thoroughly on Mozilla Support and apologize if this is a redundant query. Redirect or any tutorial here wildly appreciated! Best, ME

The easiest thing to do would be to restore a recent backup of the Thunderbird profile folder, assuming you did bother to create one.
Beyond that, isn't there something like time machine built into MacOS?
Thanks. Unfortunately, I was not so smart as to create a backup before fiddling with the settings - a no-no I know. Like writing in ink on expensive stationary before at least writing a draft on plain paper.
Time Machine is on my computer - I would love to utilize it but as I have never done so, it would start at a time that is too late to back up. Unless I am able to force the date of the initial back-up to a prior manually adjusted date.
Thanks for your input.
