After a restart of my computer, Thunderbird had migrated to release 78. I don't like the new look and I want to return to the nicely coloured folders. I attach the old and new look images. Why did they change all colours to B/W? Is this optional and how can I return to my own flavour?

I see there is an option to customize folders. Does that mean that I can go back, or that I need to colour them myself one by one?

Best regards,

Rob van der Meer

Colouring them is one option, but their is no inbuilt option to go back to the old look. For that, you'll have to downgrade and disable updates, but beware of the security risk in doing so.

Try this add-on for TB 78:

There are more complex ways to change the icons, but the add-on is the simplest.

I spent hours making Thunderbird look good after the last major update (don't remember the version) about a year and half ago. It was truly a visual shit storm. Guess what it's now even worse. Damn fugly looking screen. Colorless, heading fonts are too small now. Once again it is a shit storm of ugly. Now I have go back and try to make this eyesore easy on the eyes again.
