Hi there, I re-installed my firefox with the latest 68.7.0esr which replaced the 75.0 version, and at the end of installation progress i was informed that I need to create a new profile to prevent my old history and bookmarks thing from being covered (actually I didn't see that thoroughly but I did click the " create the new profile" button), now I need to ask where my history and bookmarks are stored? I need to use them, thanks.

The reason you can't use your old profile folder with Firefox ESR is because it's an older version. Because some of the internal ways that Firefox handles saving data changes between versions, the Firefox developers prevent you from downgrading. Using your Firefox 75 profile on Firefox ESR could cause some of the data to be lost because it might be saved in a different format.

That said, your bookmarks and history are saved in the places.sqlite file within your Firefox profile folder. You can try copying that file from your Firefox 75 profile folder to your Firefox ESR folder, but there's no guarantee that the data will actually be accessible in Firefox ESR. I think it probably will be, but it depends on what has changed between Firefox 68 and Firefox 75.

See the Recovering important data from an old profile article for more information about how to transfer data between profile folders.

Alternatively, you can probably just login to Firefox Sync on Firefox 75 and use that sync the data with Firefox 68. See How do I set up Sync on my computer?

Hope this helps.

NOTE: I would highly recommend making a backup of both profile folders BEFORE attempting to copy any files. That way, if something goes horribly wrong, you still have a copy of your data.
