I am concerned that there seems to be a growing number of sites that simply do not render in Firefox. Two examples are http://www.psmag.com/ and http://www.linguee.fr/. The latter site used to render fine, but has stopped working. Both sites render just fine in Google Chrome! Using Firefox 38.0 5 for Mac, with OS X 10.9.5. Please investigate!

Do you have any content blocking extensions?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

Try to disable IPv6 (check for other possible causes as well).

You can check the Net log and the Network log in the Web Console (Tools > Web Developer) to see fails to get loaded.

Clear the cache and remove cookies only from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

1. I have attached a screen shot, with Chrome on the left side of the screen and Firefox on the right! As you can see, the Firefox page is completely blank, while the Chrome page is rendered correctly. FYI, Safari also renders it correctly! 2. Clearing the cache and removing cookies for the site has no effect.

Apparently AdBlock Lite was causing the problem - the only extension I had loaded - I suppose it must have updated to a new version which caused this site (which I use frequently) to suddenly stop working.

Thanks for the help!
