can thunderbird for windows back up a large yahoo email account?
I have a very large yahoo email account that I've been using since 2001 and I want to know if Thunderbird can back it up…the whole thing, every email. Can it do that? I'm worried that the account will be hacked and I'll lose everything. Thank you!

There is an add-on to TB which allows import and export of emails in various formats to a separate storage medium (external disk, thumb drive, etc.).

I'm not sure what you're trying to achieve. You can certainly set-up your account in Thunderbird, but Thunderbird is an email client, not a backup software.
Dependent on the account type you set up, and your settings you could download all messages to your local disk, and then backup the Thunderbird profile, if this is what you're talking about.
