I only have a laptop. I don't use a smart phone. How can I get Firefox to stop telling me to sync my other devices?

In that case don't use Sync.

Sync isn't intended to be used with a solitary device. It is a poor substitute for a proper data backup regimen, and could leave you with no data at all in cases of a full OS re-installation and similar actions.
