Outlook just changed its signon page. Previously I just typed the first letter of my login id and Firefox gave me a box with my entire id that I could click and have the field filled in. This no longer works. Firefox never asked if I want to it to remember the id. Is there a way to tell Firefox to remember the typing?

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode (Always use Private Browsing mode; Never Remember History).

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history"
  • Deselect: [ ] "Always use Private Browsing mode"

First suggestion about Private Browsing Mode no help, but the Saved Password Editor did it as an excellent work-around.
