My laptop options in the sync menu don't have "sync with another device" like my desktop does. When I set up sync on my laptop, the 3 boxes of codes didn't come up to put into my desktop either...help?

Sounds like you haven't updated your Sync account for the new version of Sync that was released with Firefox 29.
