When I first opened Thunderbird (just a few weeks ago), I noticed that some Calendar Tasks were already set up by Thunderbird. (My standalone calendar is Efficient Reminder).

But I don't see options for REMINDERS - popups (preferably) and/or sounds. (The purpose of a calendar for me is to be reminded to do things.)

I searched for options in Thunderbird, and I looked on the information here, but can't find anything.

If I can I select a sound and/or popup to REMIND me, where can I find the option to set it?

On Outlook.com, my login ID is 'dsmasterson@gmail.com'. When I try to connect the email for this Outlook.com account to Thunderbird, Thunderbird asks for an email address and password. My problem is that Thunderbird will assume this is my GMail account and try connecting up the email from GMail.

How can I tell Thunderbird that this is my login ID and not my email address?

I have a new Windows 11 PC and have installed Thunderbird (64bit). My current email is via my ISP who have outsourced their email to Gmail - I am using IMAP. This setup is in Outlook 2007 on my old PC. I have setup Thunderbird to obtain all of my current email from the IMAP server at Gmail. This went successfully.

I now wish to move all of my off-line stored emails from this old Outlook installation and also my calendar. When I started the import process on Thunderbird and selected Outlook as a source all I really wanted to do was to find out what Thunderbird would ask for in the way of files containing my data. But, as per other postings that I have found on this site it came up with the "No profile found" .

However Outlook is NOT installed on the Windows 11 computer and nor have I created any pst files or any other files and moved them to the Windows 11 PC. So the 32bit vs 64bit answer does not yet apply to my situation.

So what process should I follow to move my data from the old Outlook 32bit installation on my old Windows 10 PC to the new Thunderbird 64bit setup?

Thanks for any advice

I suppose the best place to start is when/where I think this problem started. Approx three to four weeks ago my thunderbird program stopped downloading emails from my server (Spectrum/RR). I say Approx because the problem sort of sneaked up on me without me realizing it was there.

I was using W7 and my hard drive was pretty much full and I was constantly getting messages that my email could not be downloaded due to lack of space. I started deleting stored emails and emptying the trash, which sort of kept me up and running for the past couple weeks. All this time my Gmail account continued to work as it should, downloading every email that was sent to me, but the Spectrum/RR account was spotty at best.

So today I fired up a new W11 computer for the first time. One of the first programs I installed was Thunderbird. When I attempted to set up an account using Spectrum/RR the process failed. I typed in all of the correct information, Name, Email, and Password but the account will not finalize. Instead, I continue to get the same message that the Configuration, Username or Password is incorrect.

I have since successfully logged into my Spectrum/RR web mail, so I know the username and password I am using is correct. I have also talked with Spectrum Technical support, and they have verified that what I am using to log in is correct.

I hope I didn't ramble on to much and someone can help me !

Hello! I recently got the update to Thunderbird 128 on my PopOS laptop via sudo apt update/upgrade. I don't know what the previous version was. Since the update, Thunderbird will spike my CPU to 120 - 140% (per command-line "top") if I have an interaction with it (e.g. reading and then deleting an email that was received) after the program has been sitting idle for several minutes. After a few minutes of loud fans, things calm down again so I presume Thunderbird is doing some sort of maintenance routine that completes successfully.

I do not have the global search index thing turned on. I did not change the default mailbox db idle time. I do have rather large mailboxes that are synced via SMTP, from three different providers. There are dozens of folders (not hundreds) containing thousands if messages (but not tens of thousands). Hopefully that gives an idea of scale .. I don't have a massive overload of untended email history but I do have a quantity of historical emails that the system has to deal with.

I followed the excellent directions online to obtain a profile during one of these high-cpu sessions. It is available at https://share.firefox.dev/4dAmyAz

Please let me know if there is anything further I can do to help diagnose this issue, such as generating more specific profiles. The high-cpu state is a pretty common occurrance now.

Over the past few weeks my emails are constantly freezing up when I open Thunderbird. It hangs up and I have to close the program and then restart, sometimes having to do this several times. It will then be normal for a short while, and start doing it again. I am running Windows 7 on my PC, I have the latest Thunderbird downloaded up until two weeks ago I never had this issue. I have not installed any new software either. I did think maybe it was CCleaner or Advanced Systemcare so I uninstalled those two programs yet the problem is still ongoing. Its quite frustrating and I can't figure out why its happening or what a potential fix for it. Thank you to those who respond.

Hi. When I view the Activity Manager, I see many log entries similar to the following except with different folders: "The current operation on 'Kailah' did not succeed. The mail server for account xxx@gmail.com responded: [NONEXISTENT] Invalid folder: Financial/Venmo/Kailah (Failure)." The folder in question existed a long time ago and has since been deleted. Same for all the other similar messages. The folder(s) was / were originally created in Thunderbird and then deleted after many months. If I create the invalid folder in Gmail, the message no longer logged. I reboot the computer daily and every day these messages appear. I am assuming something is out of sync and Thunderbird believes these folders exist. What can I do to remove these issues. Server type is IMAP Mail Server. Using Thunderbird 115.14.0 (64-bit)

Yesterday I upgraded to thunderbird 128. I have messages displayed in horizontal layout. Previously each message in the top pane used only one line, and there was minimal space between messages. Now each message requires two lines, with a large gap between messages. This means that I can see fewer than half as many messages at one time as before. How can I change the layout so each message takes up less space in the top pane?

I have been using Thunderbird as my email client for many years, now in a W11 64-bit environment. Whenever I click on "insert image" to put an image into the message the whole thing freezes and all I can do is to invoke the task manager to force the closure of the program.

I did not have this problem in December 2023, which is the last time I wanted to insert images into an email. I can still attach an image or images without a problem. Sometimes, but not always, this is a viable alternative.

Is this a known problem? Is there a fix (easy or otherwise)? Will this problem be resolved in the next update and if so is there a date for its release?

Well, some of them, like my 711 YouTube subscriptions. This started three or four days ago when I noticed nothing new in the feeds folders.

I've not disabled the feeds and all looks well in the settings. I have restarted TB, checked to make sure get new messages was active, tried this in Safe Mode and nothing has made a difference.

I created a new feed, uploaded the OPML file to it and it grabbed 10,000+ ancient files and it updates when it's supposed to. But the old setup, with filters and folders, still does not work.

I found the new folder and the old one and copied the files from there to the old directory and.... nothing.

What might have happened?

It's as if the account simply no longer exists when I click FILE/GET NEW MESSAGES FOR/ and then select the account... nothing. Nothing shows up in the error console and I don't know where else to look. But I'd really prefer not to have to rebuild this whole thing.

Sometimes the emails show up hours later, sometimes not at all. I don't seem to have this issue on my iphone or my new mac desktop. My laptop is so old I can't update it past Catalina 10.15.7, so could that be the issue?

I can't really afford a new laptop right now, so any other suggestions to try would be greatly appreciated!

Mail from Kivra does not arrive and when I contact email provider Ownit, they first say that there is something wrong with Kivra. Contacted Kivra and they say they are blocked by the email provider. I contact Ownit my e-mail provider again and they say that there must be an error in my mail client Thunderbird. Below is some information I received from both Ownit and Kivra. If anyone can help me figure out the error, I would appreciate it.

Mail from Kivra and Ownit:

Hello Martin,

   Hi Joseph,
Your colleague below and asked Kivra to respond to it as they did and it is not in my email client as I previously received these emails from Kivra.
There is something in you that is blocking these emails.
I am Godman and trustee and receive mail from many authorities without problems.
But from Kivra it has suddenly stopped working.
If you as two suppliers could talk to each other and try to find what the error could be, it would make it extremely easy.
I have Thunderbird as a client and have also contacted them and there are no blocks from Kivra!
   Sincerely
   Martin Larsson

   Hello Martin,
   Apologies for the delayed response.
We have taken this matter further for deeper troubleshooting. Do you have the opportunity to check if Kivra has received an error message when they tried to email you, we would need to take a look at that error message then if you could send it in reverse mail.

As my colleague had previously pointed out, the Mail client does not belong to us who block,

you probably use an external client such as outlook or microsoft mail to log in.

Unfortunately, we cannot do anything about these problems as they do not come from us.

Get in touch if you have any further questions.

Hi Otabek, Thanks for the reply even if it came a little late 🙂 Unfortunately, there seems to be something on your side that is blocking the mail from Kivra. At regular intervals, I get from Kivra that you must verify your email address and when I do that, the email does not arrive either in my email client Thunderbird or via your webmail portal. I myself work with IT solutions and software development, so I am quite familiar with how it works. Most likely, Kivra's email is not whitelisted with you, nor is my email account. How can we solve it?

Sincerely Martin Larsson
