Hi I have been having issues with my Thunderbird emails which would not send or be received. Now I can send but not receive.

Whenever I use it or open it I get one consistent error message as follows:

"Could not connect to mail server mail.transitioncoachingbedford.co.uk, the connection was refused"

And on sending emails I get a pop up error that says:

"your message was sent but a copy was not placed in your sent folder due to network or file access errors".

I've turned the firewall off, I've uninstalled Thunderbird and re-installed but can't fix. I've read through suggestions for fixes on other issues that sound the same but am not at all computer minded and don't understand most of the suggestions.

Can anyone please help as this is my business email. I've got access to the emails on something called RoundCube but not sure what to do.

Are you sure your provider (bluehost I think) has not locked you out of that mail account (if you are the administrator you might want to check in cpanel on you hosting platform.

There are not many reasons that mail server refuse connections. One is you are not connected to the correct network. This is usually the case where corporate mail systems are locked down to only the work domain/network. It would be unusual from an internet domain host

Another is the IP address you are connecting from has been blacklisted for some reason (usually spam). something only your hosting service can advise on really.

Thanks so much for replying and the advice. The person who manages my website have me the access via Bluehost when I explained the problem for me to use in the meantime. Would that make him the administrator?

Is that the control panel on my laptop or linked to the email account?

I found this message on the Bluehost version (it also says in the web bar 3rd party/Roundcube)

The Horde webmail application has been removed in cPanel & WHM version 108. All Horde email, contacts, and calendars will be automatically migrated to Roundcube. For more information, read our cPanel Deprecation Plan documentation.
