I want to change my default home page to cnn.com. I go to Preference>Home>HomePage and New Windows, and then select the dropdown box and enter custom URL, where I enter the full URL for CNN.com. I then select General or Search (or any other option on the main left bar). Going back to Home, and it shows CNN.com as the default home page. So far so good. Exit FireFox and restart it, and now the default home page is set back FireFox home.

This should not be that difficult to just set a new homepage. What am I doing wrong? Any help would be appreciated. PS - I am on Mac, using MacOS>Monterey.

Thanks Michael

Thanks jscher2000 and cor-el for your rapid assistance.

While I am sure that I have Firefox installed correctly (i.e not launching from the long gone dmg image-but rather from the Firefox app located in my Applications folder) your comments sparked the idea of simply deleting my current Firefox application and reinstalling. Something I should have done before asking for assistance. In any case, uninstalling Firefox (using CleanMyMac) downloading a fresh dmg file and reinstalling solved the problem. Go Figure. Other than not saving the default home page, everything else seemed to be working 100% so I was not thinking about a corrupt install. Anyrate, that solved the problem as I can now set any URL as my home page, close Firefox, relaunch and FireFox navigates to that URL. Problem Solved....thanks again for your assistance. Best Regards, Michael

Hi Michael, Firefox should remember your change and store it persistently.

Are you losing any other data when you exit Firefox, whether settings changes or history, etc.?

Make sure you install Firefox properly and that you do not launch Firefox from the DMG (Disk Image) file.

Open the Firefox Disk Image file and drag the Firefox application to the Applications folder on your hard drive. You shouldn't double-click the Firefox application to run it from the Disk Image, but instead drag it out of the DMG folder.
