Hello, this morning Thunderbird is not sending/receiving and just got the following errors. Apparently only one account is working.....so far. May I know why my other 3 accounts aren't working? I already checked with my server. These are the error messages. Thank you:

When I test-sent from 2 of my accounts TO the same 2 addresses:

An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: 5.1.1 [R4] Recipient "xxxx@rcn.com; xxxx"@rcn.com does not exist here..

Please check the message recipient ""xxxx@rcn.com; xxxx@rcn.com""; and try again.

And when I test sent from all 4 accounts TO all 4 addresses:

An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: 5.1.1 [R4] Recipient "xxxx.@rcn.com; xxxx@rcn.com; xxxx@rcn.com; xxxx"@rcn.com does not exist here..

Please check the message recipient ""xxxx@rcn.com; xxxx@rcn.com; xxxx@rcn.com; xxxx@rcn.com" and try again.

Then I restarted the computer and...I got this message which hanged for many minutes without resolving itself:

The account nuevadela@rcn.com is being processed. Please wait until processing is complete to get messages.

Thanks so much for any help.

Basically I would guess you are running into an anti spam feature. Many mail servers will no longer accept email where the From: and the To: are the same email address.

The second issue is most likely your anti virus program deciding it wants to scan your Thunderbird profile at the same time Thunderbird is trying to use it. It is generally an issue that self resolves in a few minutes.

Thank you Matt, but it seems all those tech authorities are limiting the service more and more. I don't enjoy using the computer anymore. What a shame!  :(

I understand where you are coming from. I suggest you look at GMX for free email for private use. Very popular in the US. they ask basically nothing of you and do what they say. mail and calendar according to the standards. It is refreshing really.

Oh Matt how very kind of you to offer an alternative to TB's email! Strange I never saw it in my many searches for an alternative to both, WLM and TB, but perhaps I did see it without knowing what it was LOL!

I thought email programs had a name and didn't imagine that an email program such as Thunderbird or Windows Live Mail or Eudora would have just 3 capital letters for a name. I can see now my silly train of thought since GMX probably stands for a name...

I'll go and search this before I switch back to WLMail, yes, that disappointed I feel about TB's program. How ironic:

TB doesn't have the problems that WLM had, BUT, it's not well planned and completed, and saved only by the kind techie volunteers.

WLM has lots of problems as proven by their filled up complaints, BUT, it's a very well planned and pretty complete program so one can do MANY things easily and conveniently. Also abandoned, as TB, and also saved by kind techie volunteers. However, it isn't enough here or in TB....  :(

Thanks again so much Matt. I'll go and check GMX!  :o) Adela
