I do not seem to be able to drag/move bookmarks from my list of Unsorted Bookmarks into a New Folder. However after opening the box to edit by right clicking on the Unsorted Bookmark I am able to transfer it to a named Folder.

I am also not able to drag/move Folders in the Bookmark Menu so that I can put them into alphabetical order. I was able to do both these steps before.

I look forward to learning whether anyone can assist with this problem.

Many thanks.

Hello,

Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:

  • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click Help Help-29 and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:

  • On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • On Mac: Hold the option key while starting Firefox.
  • On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode
(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme, or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps in the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.

To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

If that doesn't help, open the 3-bar menu > Customize, and try clicking on Restore Defaults. More here - Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem. Thank you!

Thanks for your reply.

I have managed to resolve the problem by clicking on the blue star when a web page listed in the Unsorted Bookmarks List is open. This opens the edit box and allows me to move the page into a chosen folder in the Bookmarks Menu.

I still cannot drag the pages in the Unsorted Bookmarks into folders in the Bookmarks Menu. So I may try your suggestion if I am not able to use the alternative method I have found.

I think this may be an example of updates being applied which affect the manner in which you could do things before the updates are applied.

I have also now found that I can order folders in the Bookmarks Menu alphabetically by right clicking on Bookmarks Menu and then clicking on Sort by Name.

Thanks for your help.
