Hi,

I've been using Thunderbird for a while now, and while I generally like it, there is a huge problem: Sometimes, for no apparent reason, it doesn't retrieve any emails from either of the two accounts that I have connected to it. This happens maybe once a week or so, and it can take a few hours for me to notice, because it simply looks as if no new emails would be coming in - which is perfectly possible. But then someone tells me they sent me an email two hours ago, or I shut down the computer, and when I reboot it later, several emails I retrieved that should have been in my inbox much earlier. Once I notice the malfunction, closing Thunderbird and launching it again will fix the problem. But I'm a freelancer, I could miss important emails or job offers, so I need my email client to be reliable. Is this a known issue? Any idea what I could do?

I have Windows 10, by the way.

See attached image. Every time I start Thunderbird or refresh my emails, it attempts to delete a folder called "temp", and then fails to poll it.

The folder is not listed in Thunderbird or the Gmail web interface. I deleted it manually a long time ago. For some reason Thunderbird seems to be remembering it.

How do I clear this phantom folder out of my profile?

Why every time i run thunderbird and if i leave it open too often it bring me the error message for all hotmail/outlook mail accounts i have???

What the heck is happening and how i can solve this?

I changed my apple ID on iphone and MacBook pro but it is giving me a FAILED log in when I am on my MacBook. I put retry and cancel and it will not let me get past and send emails

When I select messages to delete that are downloaded to TB and then press Del, it can take 20 -40 seconds for the selected messages to actually be deleted. This a Windows 7 Pro system. I don't have the issue on my Windows 11 Pro system. It's annoying. How do I stop it?

The blinking indicator of where the next character is to be typed in is over 15 characters long and it is annoying. I need to know how to get it sized to one character width like it used to be before the last update of TB. I have searched settings and I have not found how to correct it. Since it is blinking, I can not take a screenshot to show it, I can say that the last update of TB messed up a lot of settings and how it operates. Image is of my current version of TB.

When I open Thunderbird it opens my inbox but doesn't download new e-mails. Box appears which asks for new password. Putting this in does nothing. Demand re-appears. After a few minutes its sorts itself out & downloads new e-mails. This has been happening with Outlook & Plusnet e-mails.

The quick search used to work wonderfully. With the recent updates, it works very slowly and takes a few minutes to display the request. I already fixed my inbox, but I continue having the same problem. I appreciate any suggestions.

I have numerous 1and1 domain IMAP based email addresses and use Thunderbird as main email program to retrieve and review my emails. However, some of the accounts setup in Thunderbird which have IMAP based servers are removing/deleting the email from the server on syncing. Its really frustrating on why some are doing this and the other do not.

I don't want ANY of my IMPA email servers having emails deleting, its why I use IMPA so I can review the emails on phone, tablet or via WebUI when away from home.

Thunderbird version is 115.14.0 (64-bit)

Please can you advise how I can fix this?

Running W10 on PC, no problems on other programs, on TB for at least 10 yrs. For past week TB has taken up to 15 seconds to delete or send some messages (not all). I thought this might be 3,500 messages in Sent folder so deleted oldest half of these. No difference, then I noticed that TB has deleted all my sent messages since May this year. Now it won't put my sent messages into the sent folder, they just disappear, and TB still delays on deleting or sending. Have tried repair button on inbox and sentbox, no difference. My wife remains on 115.14.0 without problems (so far!) I have just seen that v.128 has self-installed, could this be the problem?

Hy ! The version of TB y run is 128.1.0esr (32 bits) under Windows 10. I am a user since 2005. Under "disk space in "local folders", I have (translated) " never delete messages"

While seaching old messages, I just discovered that, although theses messages appear in the list of messages of local folders, there is a lot of theses local folders where, when I click on a message in the list, a window opens whith an empty content.

This does not occur the same way for all the folders : for example, in one of them, the messages dated 2005 do not open (they appear in an empty window), while messages dated 2006 and earlier open as usual. Other example, in another folder, containing messages dated 2008 to 2010, not any opens in another way than an empty window.

I have tried to ask my question in the mozilla forum the 15 th august, but no answer. That is why I try on this site. I have translated here the question I posted on the mozilla forum in French, my native langage, and I hope it will be understandable ...

I have no trouble to log in to outlook.com but thunderbird says its the wrong password, Ihave changed it 3 times and it still says wrong password, I like thunderbird but don't understsnd what is wrong at the moment.

Apologies if this has been discussed before here, but in Thunderbird 128.1.0esr (64-bit) the All Events option is missing for calendar searches, which means it is no longer possible to search past events, see screenshot.

Hopefully the All Events option will be reintroduced soon?

I accidentally activated the OneDrive sync. After the mail directory were uploaded to the OneDrive cloud, thunderbird mail can only see each new mail title, but I cannot open these mails after I double click into them. It will just come back as directory and file not found. In other words, the paths are valid, but I can only see title without the preview nor the content of the emails.

File not found The file mailbox:///C:/Users/XXXXXX/MozillaMail/xxxxxx/Inbox?number=2704 cannot be found. Please check the location and try again.

I have Thunderbird set up to download email from my ISP to an inbox under that account. A few days ago I saw that when I deleted a message it did not go the the Trash folder. When I look at the properties of that folder it shows a blank for location and while the message is deleted from the inbox it disappears. I do not know how that location was lost or how to restore it to it's previous value.

When opening a pdf file to print, the setting at the top defaults to "Automatic Zoom". Can this default setting be changed to actual size? Some pdf's won't print the whole page, leaving part of the right side off.

thunderbird delete folders at will and randomly. folder remains at source but because thunderbird thinks it is still there it will not download folder again without making a change to folder name
