Desired character encoding is missing in menu View->Character Encoding

I notice that the list of available character encoding in "View->Character Encoding" is shorter than older versions. For this reason, I cannot choose my desired character encoding.

How can I access the full list of character encoding?

There has been a cleanup of the Character Encoding menu and some choices are no longer available.

You can look here to set a fallback character encoding:

  • Tools > Options > Content > Fonts & Colors > Advanced > Character Encoding for Legacy Content

Some bug related to this change:

  • Bug 910192 - Get rid of intl.charset.default as a localizable pref and deduce the fallback from the locale
  • Bug 967981 - Provide some way for addons/prefs to control the default fallback character set
