Please remove the new 4.0. I hate the space it takes up on my sites

I cannot stand the look of new 4.0 gray bar at top. I tried to understand instructions on how to remove the "upgrade" and restore former version. The bar is distracting and My Mac O S X allows me to open anything I need. Don't want:"most visited" Getting started, "Latest Headlines" "Apple" Amazon ebay or yahoo or bookmarks. I want my space back.

Could be a Bookmarks Toolbar. To enable and disable individual toolbars, you can use the orange Firefox button, then the rightward pointing triangle next to Options. Or if you are using the classic menu bar, View > Toolbars.
