Two days ago could not send in afternoon but did in the morning. Msg was server timed out. Yesterday sending worked fine even tho I changed nothing. Today no send. Switched SMTP from Comcast to Verizon. Still server timed out message but a couple of time msg was connection was disconnected before comm established. All this time wife could send using Outlook and Comcast SMTP. Points to something erratic in Thunderbird. Any thoughts??

Sounds to me like an erratic anti virus product. Try uninstalling it.

Unfortunately no. re-installed TB, no joy. Turned AV off, no joy

problem with your provider.... btw Comcast and Verizon mail servers are not interchangeable. One at least simply rejects mail if you are not connected to the internet using their service.

I agree. Have tried to send using my laptop/reg computer with no success last two days. But sending works just fine regular computer today and I changed nothing. Never had the reject problem. Maybe that's because I have accounts with both even though I from Compuserve through Comcast for years and receiving has never had a glich. Will have to confer with Comcast. Thanks for your input.,
