somehow I lost the settings icon on the address bar. I cannot get to the download section either. I do not know what happened, but I went from deleting a game from my computer to not having the google as my homepage. I signed back on and saw that the Toshiba homepage was on my desktop and I could only get to google by typing it on the address bar. Please tell me how I can put google back onto my computer while using firefox, Thank you for your time. Donna Johnstone

Hi Donna, could you check whether Firefox is still installed on your system? You can use the Windows 8.1 "Run" dialog. There's an icon for on the lower part of the Start screen where you find all the small icons, or you can hold down the Windows key and press R.

In the Run dialog, type or paste the following and press Enter:

firefox.exe

Does Firefox start up? If so, maybe only the shortcut is missing from your desktop.

If Firefox doesn't start up, you can reinstall by downloading a fresh copy of Firefox 41.0.1 from the following page (scroll down to your preferred language):

https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/

Type about:preferences<enter> in the address bar. I placed this on my Bookmarks Toolbar. Very handy.

Hi, we are all interpreting your problem in different ways, so here's my take on it!

Open the 3-bar menu > Customize, and look for the Options and Downloads buttons. If you can see them, drag each of them to a location of your choice on the address bar. If you can't see them try clicking on Restore Defaults. When you have finished, Exit Customize to save. More - Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars.

To bring back the Firefox start page instead of Toshiba, please see How to set the home page, and click on Restore to Default.

If your question is resolved by this or another answer, please take a minute to let us know. Thank you.
