Trouble Updating My Primary Email

Hello,

I have been a Firefox user for many many years, but my old email address is still attached to my firefox account and for harassment reasons I need to update my email address. I followed all the steps listed on this Help page, but I never get the "make primary" button either. The other big concern here is that making a new account would lose data.

A side note is that my username on the support forum has a typo as well for this same old account years ago when it was created... "mbusher" instead of "rbusher" dunno if that is able to be corrected either?

Did you ever use the email you are trying to add as the primary account name for another sync account?

There was another thread that also had this issue, if we cannot find out why the second account can be added, I might suggest to create a new account with the email address.

Why: All of the account data is accessible to the local profile, or from the last successful sync. There is no back up. You need to have access to each device that the account is connected to.

As a small note, check what devices are attached to make sure they are all yours from the account page. From this menu [about:preferences?entrypoint=menupanel#sync] click on "Manage account" and take a peek at the listed "devices and aps"

Hello,

Both of the emails are attached to the Firefox account right now, but the wrong one stuck as primary and as far as I know my current email was never synced with anything. Trying to remove my old primary email completely and although I can see the Secondary email added just fine, I never get the "make primary" button.

I did go back just now and verified / updated all my devices that I was able so that should be good.

Uhh well that link takes me to my account page, but this has a blue "unlock" button by the Secondary Email now, took a screencap, should I click it and see if that shows any different options?

Ohhhh okay at first nothing happened, it looked exactly the same... but just now I refreshed it and NOW the "Make Primary" button shows up :D

I do believe this is fixed... although is there way to fix the typo in my Support Forum name too?? (last screencap)

Hi Rachael,

Yes it looks like that url is not the default one. so that article is the only reference to it. I think it is changing in the next version of Firefox.

Can you let me know what you want your support username to change to?
