Yesterday my Thunderbird was upgraded to version 38.5.1. When I opened my Thunderbird this evening, I was met by an empty page with only the following icons: e-mail, chat, discussion groups, RSS-channels, and 'Create a new calendar'. When I pressed e-mail a new window opened asking me if I want to create a new e-mail address. An unknown supplier (gandi.net) is pre-selected. I do not want a new account. I want to use my ordinary account. How can I get it back? Grateful for some help on this.

Thank you Zenos for your tip. Unfortunately it did not work. My Thunderbird is now version 38.6.0 and it runs on Windows 10, version 1511. First I moved the profile as instructed. I failed on step 10. I did not find the local directory settings. The 'server for outgoing e-mail (SMTP)' does not have a browse function. And I don't know where to find the server name.

Then I looked for the prefs.js file. It does not contain any statements as user_pref("mail.account.account1.server", "server1"). So maybe it is corrupt. But I do not have any backup. So I feel lost now.
