Last update of Firefox increased spacing between bookmark lines to double. No simple control seems to be available to control this spacing. Disabling features and doing surgery on the settings is a waste of time. Please make a simple control available, or revert to the more useful compact display.

Evidently the weight of complaints is having some effect and a coming version will (at least partly) rectify the issue.

In Customise Toolbar (right-click on a toolbar), you may have the option of Density = Compact (not supported). If not, change the following setting in about:config to true. browser.compactmode.show

Many are using a file userChrome.css to correct the issue.
