Hi, I have been using Thunderbird/Netscape for abt 25 years on dozens of company computers. The new interface changed 3 things and has become very irritating

1. Selecting Account Name used to open account settings and was quick access. Now it shows a useless page showing Read, Write msgs, Setup accounts, Import, About Mozilla  ? Q: Are the read write button not already present on the top tool bar anyway ? Account settings that was more frequently used is now a tiny icon on top right ! Request = Please put that page back in place. When clicking on Account Name, it show Account settings only and for that account only

2. Previously I had to just press Tab to add a CC: and left/right to change to BCC: Now I have to Click on new CC button with the mouse first Now I have to click 3 times with the mouse to edit an email address that is now in a capsule Request = Pls give control back to the Keyboard. Running for the mouse and aiming and clicking repeatedly spoils the rhythm of typing

3. I forgot - Later - If anyone looks at my msg that is.

Please do not let design experiments or enthusiasm make thing so annoying for veteran users

Funny how you cropped off the thing you are complaining about.

And right at the top on the right is? Account settings

Right clicking the very same account name instead of left clicking also offers account settings.

Q: Are the read write button not already present on the top tool bar anyway ?

They are and it is on by default, but some users turn it off, preferring what they consider to be a "clean" look.

Account settings that was more frequently used is now a tiny icon on top right !
Which you cropped out of your image! But seriously. Most people never change account settings. It is certainly not something on my daily to do list.

Hi Matt,

0. I HAD to crop the image because the whole looong page doesn't fit in one snapshot and I wanted to highlight the lower parts that i think are not as important as the original settings page was. PFA new snappshot with 'upper' part of the page

1. If some users switch off their tool bar it doesn't mean its copied elsewhere, replacing some other important things. They know what they are doing.

>> Right clicking the very same account name instead of left clicking also offers account settings.

So the clean interface lovers can also use that ! Anyway, I am talking about screen real-estate, not finding a button

All people will change their "Account Settings" more often than they "Set Up Another Account" or "Import from Another Program" or read "About Mozilla Thunderbird" or "Resources"

You seem to have skipped part 2 of my msg:

2. Previously I had to just press Tab to add a CC: and left/right to change to BCC: Now I have to Click on new CC button with the mouse first Now I have to click 3 times with the mouse to edit an email address that is now in a capsule Request = Pls give control back to the Keyboard. Part 2 is definitely something everyone does a 100 times daily ! At least put an option in Settings, to disable the new feature. Will be very useful for most users

I get it. You don't like it. There is a user interface discussion list, this is not it. Perhaps you might like to join in the discussion on the mailing list https://thunderbird.topicbox.com/groups/ux
