Google chrome works fine, but Firefox gets an error code 404. Windows Firewall is configured to allow the program, I have uninstalled/reinstalled, and it won't open, not even in safe mode. Still a 404 code. The same thing is happening to Safari. I can't fix settings in Firefox if it doesn't open. Any other suggestions?

Once Firefox is open, if you press Ctrl+n to open a new window, does it show the same error or does it work and show your home page?

No! I get the same error. Check your home page setting as the URL may be corrupted. These articles should point the way:

Any improvement?

Yes! That works. Check for a hijacked shortcut. Here's how:

Right-click your Firefox shortcut/icon > Properties > Shortcut tab. The "Target" for 32-bit Windows 7 should be this (no more, no less):

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"

If anything else follows that, remove it. Save your change and test the icon again.

I finally got the page to stay long enough to click on the menu button, top right. Found out it had been "blocked" somehow. With the page disappearing so quickly, it took a few times to catch it. I unblocked it, and it's fine for now. My shortcut wouldn't work, then Google couldn't open it, and hence the call for help. Thanks much!
