Hello! When entering some (in tis case financial: https://www.nordnet.se/se) sites the time shown are exactly 2hours behind the system time. If system time is 11:15 (correct time zone in Sweden) the time shown on the site is 09:15. This is probably something that has to do with an update of Firefox. I have automatic update to Firefox but the problem has been there for some months although I have not been able to recognice it until the recent week. I have tried a "clean" new install of Firefox to a new directory with no import of bookmarks or anything but the problem is exactly the same. For your information I have tried a clean install of Duckduckgo browser which do not suffer this problem. But I want to keep with Firefox which I have used since at least 15years. I guess there is a "timestamp" or samething that have gone wrong, but should be easy to correct if you just know where to look. Best regards /Gunnar

When I type something in Google search I have two issue. #1 it moves the search up to the browser address bar which is utterly annoying. I've tried finding ways to disable that and use Google the original way which I think most people prefer. But #2, more annoying than this is that starting in July 2024 the searches started randomly not working. You hit enter... nothing happens. I'll clear all the browser cache and history (everything selected) and it will work once or twice, then nothing. At first I thought maybe the enter key on my keyboard was going bad since it was seemingly a little intermittent, but no, it's not the keyboard... it's Firefox.

I also tried a full delete and reinstall of Firefox but that doesn't work either.

I also tried shutting off my free version of AVG, which I've had for quite awhile, and that didn't help either.

I have no idea what else to try and absolutely no idea what else could be causing this. I just know I use Google A LOT and have never liked other search engines.

So with that said, I think my days of using Firefox have come to an end. If someone doesn't post a legitimate fix to this by the end of the month (Aug 2024), I'm just going to delete and use Chrome. I don't feel I have any other choice at this point. This has simply become way too frustrating. And from what I've found, no one else has been able to resolve this either.

I am running Ubuntu 22.04 Jammy on my desktop. Problem does not appear in Windows 10.

I can click the search box and the list of search engines shows. I can change the default search engine in settings. Mouse over highlights the selections.

Clicking on one of the choices does nothing.

I think there have been 2 updates since the problem first appeared.

PS: There also appears to be an issue with js. Some functions on websites do not work although most of the scripts do work. In particular comments on comicskingdom.com do not work and the same with comments on seattletimes.com which apparently uses the same script. Both websites work on Windows 10.

Firefox 129.0 (64bit) - Windows 10 (with current updates)

Sometimes (except when I'm demonstrating the problem of course) a Google search simply hangs. In the search field (next to the shield & lock) the website for the search appears, eg https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=how+secure+are+android+phones or https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=nsw+service+parking+meter+app there is no other response and no activity in bottom left corner of the window.

Simply clearing history (history, cookies, cached files, but not site settings) fixes the problem and the search can then be repeated and new searches done until the next time, when it's a case of rinse & repeat. No other action is required, which would seem to suggest that the problem isn't elsewhere.

This problem affects both my wife's and my PC (same configs), and has for several weeks, sorry can't be more precise as to when it started.

Thanks, Mike

As noted by others about recently-prior versions of Firefox, version 129 ALSO fails to play videos (on Amazon Prime) at HD even though other browsers, Chrome and Edge as examples, work perfectly well. This problem MAY have started with a fairly recent version of Firefox (like 127 or 128). See the post right here by another user, earlier Firefox version, with the EXACT same problem:

The address bar is driving me crazy tbh. I want to search for something from it and it works most of the times but doesn't some other times, and I don't know why. I did try to refresh firefox after you click the helper software to uninstall it, but it still doesn't work all the times, and I also tried this (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1337970), yet it still doesn't. I might try to uninstall and install it again but is there anything else I can do if it still doesn't work?

Recently MalwareBytes has been flagging, MANY times a day, an attempt by Firefox 129.0.2 to go to CHHIMI.com. The message from MalwareBytes says it is being "blocked due to Trojan". This is an "outbound" type from C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe.

The only info I have been able to find about CHHIMI is that it is a very new website that does not use HTTPS validation. Allegedly has something to do with gaming. The only "gaming" I do is an occasional bout with an on-board (not on-line) Solitare.

So, the fundamental question I have is why is FireFox routing to CHHIMI.com and how do I stop it?

Hi there,

I'm new here so please bear with me if I've posted in the wrong place or have missed something obvious.

I running Windows 10, fully updated, on a laptop. I have been using Firefox browser now for many years, suits my needs and avoid's using Goolges Chrome. My Firefox was updated a in the last few days and it shows as up to date on Version 129.0.1 64bit.

I noticed late last night that when opening a fresh window and enter a search term in either the address bar or the Google search bar, my usual choice of search engine, I hit return and nothing happens. Any text I've input disappears totally. Not at all sure what's going on but have found that if I open a new private window Firefow will act as I'd expect without any issues.

I have two other browsers on my laptop, Edge and also Avast's own offering which both work as expected when I enter a search term. Have never experienced this before with the exception of years ago when malware protection wasn't great. It almost seems as though something is just stopping Firefox from searching anything I enter. I can use the bookmarks just fine and then everything works as usual.

Yesterday I thought that maybe following the new windows culmulative updates I was offered and apparently installed just fine, that I needed to restart which a tried and I thought it had cured the issue. Seems that it hasn't and still having the same issue.

Any idea's or thought's on what the cause of this is?

My situation is similar to:

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1410815

but that thread is archived.

Problem: I opened the Downloads folder and meant to click 'Organize' but I accidentally clicked 'Clear Downloads'. All the names in the Downloads list are now gone and I want to bring them back.

Situation: I did not want to clear the Downloads list, all I wanted to do was learn what options were listed in the 'Organize' button. I was hoping there might be an option to have past Downloads (the names on the Downloads list, not the downloaded files themselves) sorted by date and by domain. But now all the names in the Downloads list are gone. I don't want this to happen again so what's the best solution for this problem?

cor-el says (in page linked above) that a backup of 'places.sqlite' can recover the Downloads list. I copied that file to my Desktop but I'm guessing that it's too late for this file to be of any use now, as I did this only *after* the Downloads list was cleared.

The information I've read about the places.sqlite file (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/fix-bookmarks-and-history-will-not-be-functional , https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-firefox-stores-user-data , and https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/recovering-important-data-from-an-old-profile#w_bookmarks-downloads-and-browsing-history) seems to focus mainly on its relation to Bookmarks, not Downloads. Does everything that article say about restoring Bookmarks also apply to restoring Downloads?

I haven't made a backup before in Firefox specifially but my system (Linux) took a system snapshot (Timeshift) before this mistake happened. Would reverting the system to the previous snapshot allow me to access the old places.sqlite-wal file that has the now-missing Downloads list?

Also, is there a way to customize the appearance of Downloads window? I'd like to add some space between the 'Organize' button and the 'Clear Downloads' button. If I could have them separated just a little bit more, I think it might help to prevent this kind of thing from happening again.

In the meantime, I'm thinking of writing a script that regularly backs up the places.sqlite-wal file so that if this happens again, I can just use the backup. But as of now I'm uncertain that it will do what I need it to do.

Any help is appreciated. I hope I've provided enough information to make this report clear. If any needed info is missing, please let me know.

Thank you.

I have had an issue with adobe document cloud for some time in that when I access teh cloud (via firefox) and try to scroll through list of documents with my mouse wheel, the site fails with the document list disappearing and I have to refresh the webpage to get it back again. A similar issue happened today with bookmarks in a large pdf in adobe document cloud. When I tried to scroll down the list of bookmarks, the list disappeared completely. I rang adobe for assistance. They asked me what browser I was using. I indicated firefox. They said try it with chrome, which I did. Chrome worked perfectly. No scrolling issues at all. I asked whether this was a known issue with firefox. He said simply to clear my cache and see what happens. I did but I get the same result.
