Tabs opening randomly saying I need a new video player?

The exact same thing as this question:

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/971377

/Except/, my plugins are all up to date. I previously installed an add on to give my pinned tab page a custom background but deleted it in case it was the issue. Apparently not. My firefox is up to date, my add ons are up to date, my plugins up to date.

Sometimes I'll wake up and it will have opened ten-twenty of this same exact tab saying the same thing. It is very annoying.

Btw, this wasn't happening before I reformatted my computer (which previously had vista.) After I reformatted I installed Firefox and it started happening a day or two later.

hello, this sounds like an issue with malware unfortunately. make sure that you're always downloading software directly from the software vendor's homepage, since there are countless other sites which bundle packets with adware and other crap.

please run a full scan of your system with different security like the free version of malwarebytes, adwcleaner & microsoft safety scanner.

Malware is not the issue. I just reformatted so I shouldn't have any kind of bad thing on here (not to mention I'm careful where I download stuff, and haven't even downloaded anything sketchy - just my browsers.) I ran a malwarebytes scan and it came out clean. :/

well, it has to be some form of malware active on the system - i would know of no other explanation that would trigger such malicious links in regular intervals. maybe the malware is quite new and didn't got picked up by av-vendors yet...

please scan your system with all three recommended tools.

It's not the issue clearly its firefox. This computer was just formatted and wiped from vista to windows 7 so I have no virus from any past os installs now as for it maybe even remotely being a virus first off all that has been done from the point of a fresh install was drivers updated windows updates downloaded and firefox installed nothing else has been installed.

The odds of a virus being on here are like the odds of every apple in the world just imploding for no reason other than they are red. It makes no sense. Nothing has been installed for a virus to piggy back on no unsafe websites have been loaded to run the risk of a backdoor being installed via flash which might I add hasnt even been installed. The plugin that was downloaded was from the firefox website but was deleted to be safe outside of that this is a current version of firefox with a fresh install. Blowing it off as a virus isnt going to fix it clearly its an issue with firefox so how can I disable the check system or something that may stop it from happening?
