I quite literally feel like an IDIOT!!! All I want to do is send a [BCC:] Email to a Group I created in my Thunderbird Address Book, and I can't figure it out! And a Google search was ZERO HELP! WHAT AM I MISSING!!!??? HELP!!! I am using Version 1.128.1esr

I began using Thunderbird several weeks ago, beginning with the previous version and upgrading to the new one. From the beginning, Thunderbird hangs every couple of minutes, whether I'm navigating or composing a reply. It doesn't shut down, it just stops working, often with "Not Responding" in the title bar. It usually comes back within 5-10 seconds. It did this when I was in Troubleshoot mode.
I've seen suggestions to see what happens in Safe Mode. I hate using Safe Mode, so I'm hoping for another suggestion or test to do in regular mode before I go that route. Kami

As the title says, how do I remove Templates and Archive folders? This post does not have an answer, and this extension does not work.
I have tried deleting the files from the folder and restarting, but they just get recreated: C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\profile\Mail\smart mailboxes
I have unsubscribed from the Archive folder in my accounts settings and deleted them from my mail server. Templates does not even exist on my mail server.
See attached picture, but these are annoying as I don't use them and they just take up space and are distracting.
Any ideas?

However, this is property displayed like the attachment I'm including below, in Mac Mail.
This strange behavior does not occur in the same email on Mac Mail, where it looks completely normal.

The vertical layout is basically fine for me, but what I'd really like is to be able to re-order the panes so that they're in the layout "Message List" - Message - Folders. The email itself is the most important bit, and I'd like to have it in the center of my view, instead of way off to the right :)

I've been using Thunderbird for the last 5-6 years with three different iMap Gmail accounts, a hotmail account and two other work email accounts. Been seeing a pop up the last few days that my folders cannot be compacted due to lack of disk space. I started looking around and found that my Thunderbird folder is approaching 750GB. From what I read in the forums this may be due to copies of emails being stored on my local device and/or temporary files that are created when attempting to compact folders and not being successful. My question is what files can I delete that will not remove any of the emails in the imap accounts? Do I even need to delete anything or can I just uncheck the box in Synchronization & Storage that says Keep messages in all folders for this account on this computer? I am running Thunderbird 128.1.1esr(64-bit).
Any help would be much appreciated.

I recently installed Thunderbird 128.1.1esr (64 bit) on a new computer. Some emails I receive are unreadable, looking like computer code (see attached image). There have been about 5 to 10 messages received from different senders that all look exactly like this image attached.
If I go to my other machine that is running Thunderbird 115.14.0 (32 bit) I can open and read the emails just fine. I can also log into my email system's web-based email and read the same emails just fine.
Does anyone know what is causing this?

After entering the first letter, a search appears to start that blocks all activity for about 5 minutes! And I don't know how to stop that search. There must be a bug. Can you please help to fix it? I installed Thunderbird 128.1esr on a fresh install of Fedora 40. Clicking on the bird icon the application seems to load and a small dot appears under the icon. The mail user interface does not load. Right clicking the icon I can quit. I can find the application in the installed applications. I can find find the installed packages in files. I have searched for fixes, but nothing works. I installed the application using flathub and there were no problems. I have been using Thunderbird for years with no problems. Before the Fedora full install, I backed up my Thunder mail. I hope someone out there has an answer.

Apparently I have changed the Thunderbird account settings causing an alert message on all incoming emails. As shown in the bottom of the example attachment it reads, " The unique identity matching the prom address was not found. The message will be sent using the current from field and settings from identity Bob Poulnot <atldetective@gmail.com>.
Also by opening this incoming email it is showing at the top that it is "From" Bob Poulnot <atldetective@gmail.com> as a reply. I did not click on reply.

I use TBird to access a 365 institutional ".edu" account-- at least I used to! Normally, when adding a new account or logging in to an existing account after a password update, TBird would access Microsoft online and proceed directly to the institutional site where I would enter my institutional credentials. That still works just fine on my TBird v.115 installation. With v.128, the process stops at a Microsoft online URL and pops up an authentication box requesting login credentials (see uploaded image). That is, the process halts before reaching the institutional page. Neither my Microsoft account credentials nor my institutional credentials work. Taking a look at the error log via the developer tools seems to indicates that the required functions have been deprecated.

I wish they had a) kept the ability to look at prior events in the most recent version of Thunderbird b) kept the option to export calendar as csv file.
But here we are. Is there any sort of stand-alone utility or any other way for me to get at my calendar data?
I installed an older version of Thunderbird, which has no problem with the rest of the profile, but chokes on the calendar.

Installed Thunderbird 128.1esr in a fresh fedora 40 install. When I click on the bird icon the application seems to load, but it is running in the background. I only see my desktop. I can find the application in installed applications and there is a folder in files. I backed up Thunderbird before I reinstalled Fedora 40. I can not believe this is unique bug. Any ideas?

Today while using the email got message to compact folder so i did and left it, after 30 min came back with a message that TB crashed, reopened it and found that i can see the emails subject but they don't open. Searched the form and tried the repair option but after it finished it deleted all the emails from 2018 till now and i can see the emails of 2017 only (the first year of usage) -i tried deleting the .msd file but didn't help
-Created new profile and copied the inbox folder to it but still can see old emails only.
-- i sent a test email from my mobile to my email and it received it but the emails on the server that was downloaded before the crash are not downloaded again - i did search on email address that iam sure that we communicated recently only and i could see all the emails in the search but when i try to open it its empty

Hello. Currently running 128.1.1 (32-bit) on Windows 10 August update.
I have found that while my mail filters appear to be working, if I were to repair my inbox, all those "moved" or "deleted" emails will reappear in my inbox. I have moved all inbox email off to a backup folder and created a new inbox, I have created a new profile, I have recreated email filters, I have even created a new email account and see this happening also. I am at a loss as to why these processed emails are all reappearing in the inbox after a repair operation. I discovered this when I noticed a few updates ago the inbox response had grown slower and slower. I ran a repair on it and discovered thousands upon thousands of emails reappearing. I deleted them and performance improved, but out of curiosity I repaired again and filtered emails since the last repair, reappeared. I am at a loss.
