Unwanted add-on installed without authorization.

An add-on was installed to my Firefox browser without my authorization. I could not remove the add-on with Firefox or Widows programs removal, had to use Advance Installer Pro to remove it from my computer. However the search engine "Snap.do" kept on running every time I open a new tab even after removing and reinstalling Firefox and selecting the option of a blank page when I open a new tab. The add-on name is "Snap.do"

In your "More system details", it indicates that snap.do is your address bar search provider. An easy way to fix that (and any other search oddities) is this add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/searchreset/

Regarding a new tab, you get a snap.do page if you press Ctrl+t? If the add-on is gone, you can update this setting as follows:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.

(2) In the filter box, type or paste newtab and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the browser.newtab.url preference and enter the desired value:

(i) Page thumbnails (default)

about:newtab

(ii) Blank tab

about:blank

(iii) Built-in Firefox home page

about:home

(iv) Any other page

full URL to the page

Press Ctrl+t to open a new tab and verify that it worked. Fixed?
