Why won't Firefox get rid of my ads even though I'm using adblocker?

I'm using FireFox 3, because The newer Firefox's are not that good in my opinion, and ads keep showing up everywhere, even though I have adblocker and adblocker plus installed into my add-ons.

First off, don't install two different add-ons that do the same thing. Second, Adblock Plus is the one to keep; did you signup for a Filterset subscription (no cost)? Adblock Plus doesn't block anything without filters, either a Filterset subscription or your own set of filters that your create over time as you see stuff you don't want to see and block it each one one by one.
