Use add-on Start-up Master to open Firefox with a password, and have your friend use another browser like IE or safari or chrome.
Are you using separate Logon User Accounts (or whatever they're called in Vista)?
That will keep all your stuff private from the other user, not only your Firefox browsing history. It's almost like having a different computer for each user account.
