Websites I previously visited will not disappear off of Firefox, what should I do?

Whenever I click on Firefox to start it, websites that I previously visited pop up and will not go away no matter what I try. I have tried erasing the history, etc, using CCleaner, and the websites will still not go away. Should I delete Firefox, and then download it again? If so, how do I do that?
