Firefox 57.04 64 bit: windows 10 Taskbar remains hidden only in Firefox. fix?

when FF is open (not full screen mode), the windows taskbar remains hidden on whichever monitor (I use two) it is displayed on. no other application does this. I see similar issues over the past year but non of those fixes works. and yes, Taskbar setting are set to autohide. thanks for any ideas.

Try to rename/remove xulstore.json and if present delete localstore.rdf in the Firefox profile folder with Firefox closed.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.
