As I am a complete ██████ when it comes to managing my time, it helps me to have the calendar jump to my face upon startup.

I previously had it more or less working, but after a crash and complete re-install I can't remember how I did it.

Launching Thunderbird upon system startup isn't a problem, but, in the command line, what should come after thunderbird ?

I of course tried "thunderbird -calendar", which does nothing, and scouted the web high and low, to no avail.

There *must* be a way, as Thunderbird remembers the tab that was last active, but I cannot find either where this remembrance is store nor how to spoof it.

Does anyone here have any idea ?

I'm using Thunderbird 78.9.0 and Windows 10 OS If I select / Open the Calendar tab, so I can see all calendar info and then exit Thunderbird without selecting any other tab or folder etc, when I restart Thunderbird, it automatically opens and displays the Calendar with focus on it.

Please make sure you do not have anything cleaning up session files etc. Such programs as CCleaner or even some Anti-Virus products will 'clean up' files. So if running any software that can do this, I suggest you make the Thunderbird profile folder and its subfolders exempt from any scanning.

If you suspect the session files may be corrupt then try the following to get a fresh new file up and running.

In Thunderbird Help > Troubleshooting Information Under 'Application Basics' section about 8th in list is 'Profile Folder' click on 'Open Folder'

A new window opens showing the content of your 'profile name' folder.

Exit Thunderbird now.

Scroll down and delete the following files:

  • session.json
  • xulstore.json

Start Thunderbird Then select required tabs eg: Calendar With focus on the 'Calendar tab, exit Thunderbird. Wait a few moments for background processes to complete and then restart Thunderbird.

I always start Thunderbird from the shortcut icon unless I need to opn the Profile Manager.
