Why won't ff open htm files any more?
I pul a list of web addresses into a file and saved it as html. I would load it and use the links to open the pages. With the most recent updates, FF won't recognize it any more. What happened and how do I correct it? Mac OS 10.13.6, FF Dev Ed 68.0b1.

You can check for sandbox security issues when Firefox has a problem to access locally stored files.
You can set this pref to 2 or 1 on the about:config page to reduce the sandbox security level.
- security.sandbox.content.level = 1
- close and restart Firefox to make the change effective.
If '1' still doesn't have effect then try '0' to disable the sandbox.
If this didn't work then undo/reverse the change and reset the pref via the right-click context menu to the default value.
You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.

Does it make a difference if you change the file extension to .html if it is currently .htm ?
Its this a plain file (i.e. not RTF) with <A HREF> style tags or are there text links in the file ?
Thanks for the idea. No, .htm, .html makes no difference. I set up the file with links using Libreoffice. It worked fine until the updates within the last week. I imported the file to FF as a set of bookmarks and they work fine (it was perfectly OK with that), but FF refuses to recognize the file as readable! It just makes it more of a chore to use doing it the way I'm doing it now.
Does the page at least load? How do you open the file? Does "File -> Open File" work?
What code do you see if check the page source (Command+U) if anything loads?
- "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Web Developer -> Page Source
When I click my link to the file I get: Access to the file was denied
The file at /Users/randolphjohnson/Desktop/Comics 2.htm is not readable.
It may have been removed, moved, or file permissions may be preventing access.
When I use the "File -> Open File": Access to the file was denied
The file at /Users/randolphjohnson/Desktop/Comics 2.htm is not readable.

I.e.. the same message. Since nothing loads, I can't use the Command-U to check the source. I'm not sure that answers what you had in mind, but that's where I am.
Another note: I can open the file with MS Word or Safari, but not FF release edition, either.

I changed the setting from "3" to "2" and the file opened and worked as intended. Thanks for the help.
