Firefox not showing images periodically - clearing cache history and restarting works, but only temporarily
This happens every few hours, if not more often. Is there a more permanent solution than having to do this every single time? It's very annoying, and it happens on every machine I have.

Instead of clearing all history, what happens if you bypass the cache just for the current page by one of these reload methods:
- Ctrl+Shift+r
- Shift+click the reload button in the address bar
In late 2013, we got reports of the same kind of problem on Samsung systems that included an application named Samsung Support Center, which for some reason tampered with browser caches causing them to become corrupted. Users who uninstalled that application were able to resolve the issue.
If you do not have a Samsung system with that application, can you think of any other privacy, utility, or cleaning program that might periodically remove files from Firefox's cache for some purpose?
Assuming Ctrl+Shift+r does the same thing as Ctrl+f5, it doesn't help. If not, I'll have to try it the next time it happens. None of my computers are Samsung systems. I can't really think of anything else which might corrupt the cache. I use a private VPN program, although I don't really see why it would be interested in a browser's cache. I have no privacy or cleaning programs installed.
Could you test in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.
If Firefox is not running: Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox.
If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:
- "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
- Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
and OK the restart.
Both scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).

You can check the Net log and the Network log in the Web Console (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer).
Well, Ctrl-Shift-R works apparently. So that's a big improvement. I tried for a couple of hours in safe mode on my other machine, but it sometimes lasts a couple of hours without safe mode. Probably one of the extensions, I'm guessing. What am I looking for in the console?
