My connection keeps timing out on Thunderbird and I can no longer receive or send emails. It's not the server, but Thunderbird that's the issue.

I created an IMAP account last week and I did this with support from my provider. Emails were sending and receiving fine. 3 days ago a message started popping up that the connection was timing out and I couldn't send or receive emails. I went onto my webmail to test the server, but my emails were sending, so it is not the server but my account settings on Thunderbird. I checked the Password, I removed saved passwords, and when I restarted Thunderbird, the same thing happened but now there isn't a saved password nor does it ask me to re-enter the password.

Please advise. Thank you!

have you tried the same test with your anti virus not scanning outgoing and incoming mail (it does not do that when you use web mail)
