This was working until about one week ago. I have two email accts on different servers under Thunderbird. I tried turning off auto msg download on one (because T'bird no long was able to access that gmail server). However once I did that both email accts no longer get auto msg download, nor does Thunderbird attempt to check for mail at startup, even though set to do that.

I have checked and reset all the setting, but cannot seem to get T'bird to download mail from the one account either at startup or at the regular interval as it is set to do.

A search found an old suggestion of deleting the session.json file, but that files does not seem to exist any longer after T'bird is closed.

Other suggestions? It would seem to be possible to have one email acct that gets msg downloaded and another which does not, no?

prepossess the missing files after Thunderbird is closed and your other issues are related. ccleaner is rather destructive and deletes the session file. Do you have that problem child installed. If so turn off everything to do with Thunderbird in it. It does not do what it says it does. It just destroys settings.

Thanks, but not sure I follow what you are suggesting Matt. How are you suggesting I preprocess the missing files? Which files?

What I have done is eliminate the second email account from T'bird. Settings are correct in that it is set to check the pop server at startup and every 10 mins for the one remaining acct. However that does not work! T'bird does flash the msg in the lower left corner that it is checking for emails on the acct at startup, but it never finds any. If I then hit get messages a few secs later (literally), it finds many msgs most times. All those emails did not just appear in those few secs??? Automatic msg retrieval never finds any msgs but hitting the get messages button does still seem to work, either at startup or the reoccurring ones???

Well I think I missed getting the right drugs for that last answer. Gibberish. Where did prepossess come from.

In essence that file should exist after Thunderbird closes. Finding out why it is missing is probably key.

If you don't have ccleaner deleting it, there will be another program doing it. It might be you have a defective antivirus as they are well known to not only take over communications to the internet but to mess them up royally.
