So I have a number of filters set up in TB, and they seem to work well. But just today I got an e-mail in my Inbox that SHOULD have been captured by a filter, and sent to the right place. But it wasn't. I did Message Filters>Run Now, and bloop, it got sent to the right place. So the filter works, but something was preventing it from doing it automatically. Is there somewhere that you have to tell TB to automatically run the filters, that somehow got turned off in my system? As in TURN ON filters?

If you filter after junk classification, does that mean that what is tagged as junk won't even get to the filters? It'll just head straight to junk?

That is exactly the trade off.

I find that filter are more reliable is you execute them after classification. The default is before. I to occasionally used to see a mail missed by the filters. I do not see it when I use after classification.

Not sure what you mean. "Classification"? What's that? How do you command to execute after classification instead of before?

edit your filter... it is one of the default bits at the top of the filter window.

Wow. I had no idea there was that selection. Thank you. But I have to wonder - why is one being given that choice? What difference should it make in the result? I have no idea how to post a message on this forum

I am running with ubuntu 18.04 and thunderbird 60.6.1 (64-bit)

My filters no longer work automatically but they do work manually.

I have tried before and after junk classification to no avail.

match all the following is chosen - tried others to see if it made any difference - it didn't

these have worked for literally years

the commands are: if its from whoever then forward it to someone.

Thoughts?
