Ctrl + Shift + V no longer pastes
I'm accustomed to using Ctrl + Shift + V to paste text without formatting. I use it a lot when copying from the web and pasting into an email.
I installed Adblock Plus. This assigned Accel + Shift + V to extensions.adblockplus.sidebar_key . Every time I tried to paste, the bottom portion of my Firefox window would be taken up by an adblock plus area showing me blockable items on this page.
So I found this in Firefox's about:config, and changed it to Accel + Shift + O. But I still couldn't paste -- when I put the cursor into a text field in Firefox and hit Ctrl + Shift + V nothing happened. It didn't paste at all. Ctrl + V still pastes. So I tried starting Firefox in safe mode: same problem. Then I tried disabling adblock plus: same problem. Then I tried removing adblock plus: same problem. Then I tried creating a new profile with firefox.exe -P: same problem.
How do I get firefox to paste without formatting using Ctrl + Shift + V again??? Is there an about:config setting I need to change to set the shortcut to Accel + Shift + V? What's the name of it? Is there a way to more fully remove the adblock plus extension (as I still see it has preference names listed in about:config)?
If the choice is between adblock plus and the ability to paste without formatting, I choose the ability to paste without formatting.

I don't have ABP and when I try to paste, using ctrl+shift+v, in a normal text area (like the one I'm typing into right now), nothing happens. But it works in Gmail.

Check your keyboard for stuck keys.
Did you try this with ABP disabled?
If that works then try to contact the ABP developer to see if there is a solution.

Ctrl + Shift + V is working in other applications, just not in Firefox.

Yes I tried it with ABP disabled, and I tried it again with ABP removed (as I stated in my original post).

Thanks I had been testing in normal textareas since disabling ABP (with all the firefox restarts including safe mode and new profile logging into gmail every time was getting to be a pain and I didn't realize it would make a difference).
Just confirmed with ABP removed the shortcut works in Gmail email text composition text field, but not other text fields. That's either all I need or at least good enough for now. Marking this issue as resolved.

Load the web page. After the page is loaded, click the down arrow next to the AdBlock icon. Now select Disable on <web site>.
