When responding to other people's posts, the compose-reply window is where the problem specifically is.

I can only type in a response at the beginning of the window. I can not use the keyboard or mouse to, for example, edit the quoted earlier post(s) that generally appear in the window.

I have updated Firefox, Java, and several other things. This issue does not occur in IE or Chrome, nor on sites other than groups.google.com. And, clearing cache does NOT solve the issue.

Well, if you can possibly believe this, checking the box under Options / Advanced / General / "Always check to see if FF is the default browser" appears to have alleviated the problem.

I had a problem last night on Google's product forums, which are on Google groups. It would work normally for a while, or until I pasted something. Then iIn some cases, I could only type at the beginning of a post, and sometimes only on the last line. I wasn't online long enough to experiment with solving it.
