I am having this same problem: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1323092 except I followed those steps and gmail still opens in only the container I set for it. Even if I right click from a search and tell it to open in a different container or if it gives me a popup asking if I want to open gmail in the preset container and I click "no, open in this container", it will still open in the preset container. Attached is proof that "Always Open in This Container" is unchecked.

I have three separate Gmail accounts open in separate Firefox tabs just fine for years, though I do not use containers for it.

Ultimately, I have resolved the issue by completely deleting the container I had originally assigned gmail to. For any future readers, my number one tip is to never set any website you may want to use in multiple containers ever in the future to always open in one specific container.
