Thunderbird no longer making internet connection

As a long-time Thunderbird user I'm at a loss... Since earlier this week my Thunderbird refuses to make any internet connect. No opening web-page, errors about unable to reach my calendar, it gets stuck on trying to connect with the mailserver and the log gives errors about unable to reach the pingback or Thunderbird Send server.

I've tried disabling Windows Firewall, adding Thunderbird to the allowed apps list to no avail. Temporary disabling my Kaspersky anti-virus also didn't yield any results.

Manual update to 115.12.2: same problem. Revert to 115.11.1: no change.

I'm not quite sure where to look anymore... Any suggestions?

Emails have a bold font in Thunderbird, but not in webmail.

The emails I receive have a different font than the original. When I view the emails via webmail, they appear normal, but in Thunderbird, they display in a different and bold font.

I am new to Thunderbird and have not changed any settings. When I look in the settings under Language & Appearance, I do not see anything special that would indicate a different font being used, let alone such a bold one.

This issue occurs with both HTML emails from WooCommerce and regular test emails from Gmail.

I have attached screenshots to show what is going wrong.

Could someone please help me out, it's driving me insane, already tried google and even chat gpt. But no solution yet :(
