Firefox won't save any reorganization of my bookmarks - what a collossal waste of time to try!!!?

Yesterday, I spent a large amount of time reorganizing my bookmarks and adding new folders etc. There wasn't an "edit bookmarks" on my drop down menu but i was able to click and drag and right click to create new folders so I thought everything was good to go. This morning when i opened Firefox the bookmarks were exactly the same as before I spent an hour or so reorganizing them - what a waste of time!
