I tried to register and login to support.mozilla.com to address my problem with firefox going back two pages on a single click of the back button... but when I completed the registration and tried to login I wasn't allowed. I got "Access Denied. You do not have permission to access this page."

I went through the troubleshooting steps of clearing my cookies, deleting my cookies files from my Firefox profile folder on my sytem and turned off my ZoneAlarm firewall.

I was finally only able to register and login to support.mozilla.com using Internet Explorer! (irony, I know)

That is because you do not send the referrer.
Your More system details list show:

  • network.http.sendRefererHeader 0

This website requires to send the referrer as a security protection, so you need to reset the pref network.http.sendRefererHeader to the default value 2.

That was it!

Marvelous!

Amazing!

I don't know how or when that value got changed but as soon as I changed it to 2 as recommended I was able to log in... now I can start troubleshooting my original question regarding Firefox going back twice on a single 'back' click.

Thank you very much for your help!

Dear Cor-el I had the same problem, "Access Denied. You do not have permission to access this page." Like the previous poster, I was able to sign in using IE but not FF. Your solution fixed my problem. I found the value under about:config: "network.http.sendRefererHeader"

After changing the value to 2 I am now able to login to "support.Mozilla.com" using Firefox 3.6.16.

Thank you very much!

Where? where do we find this 'send referer' thing?

google search the term: 'uninstall flash' or 'flash uninstaller' choose the most trustworthy looking site and download their 'flash UNINSTALLER' save it, then run it to UNINSTALL flash, then go to the OFFICIAL flash site and download the latest version. (you may have to do all this every time flash causes problems)
