There are 2 versions of the Flash Player, Firefox and IE do not use the same version. The ActiveX version is used by IE, you need to install the version used by Firefox.

A couple of methods to install it, using Firefox go to http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ to install it, or use the manual installers to install the plugin version of Flash, for details see http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/191/tn_19166.html#main_ManualInstaller

It seems there are 1018 solutions! The only one given doesn't solve my issue. I have the latest download for Firefox and keep receiving the message to download the newest version of Flash player. I cannot watch movies or videos.

You can find the latest Flash player for Firefox on this page.

For Firefox on 64 bit Windows, you need the 32 bit Flash version version because Firefox is a 32 bit application.
