I know how to get to the addons section. I'm presented with enabled addons and recommended addons. There's no way to find any more. There's supposed to be an option somewhere at the bottom but nothing.

In this version you can only choose from the list of recommended addons. There's no way to add anything else.

You mean this version of Firefox? I've just bought a new phone. I use several addons for work and a bunch of others. Out of the thousands of Firefox addons, I'm now only allowed to use eleven? That makes no sense.

Can I downgrade to my previous version of Firefox?

This app has been completely rewritten and now it allows only addons that has been tested and proven that they work OK.

You can't downgrade, but you can install the Nightly version that allows installing almost every addon.

It's really complicated getting extensions for nightly. Before I changed my phone last week, the Android version of Firefox on that phone (Samsung S5) could access every addon. Is that because it was a different Android version/an older phone? Wouldn't it be better for Mozilla to just slow people to override this and install unsupported addons if they want to risk it. I've been using Firefox since the beginning, but this experience has finally put me off

It was a different app. A new app doesn't share much code with that one. We have to wait for full and easy access to extensions.
