In former days I could double click on a search engine and edit it. This has gone.

Only adding new and deleting searchengines now possible . A long time ago I could just edit entries in /usr/lib/firefox/distribution/searchplugins/locale/.

for example (like in chrome now) : engine name: jahr URL: {google:baseURL}search?q=%s&tbs=qdr:y Best regards hhgoten

Own xml files in searchplugins folder not detected

Since that time, Firefox started encrypting the search.json file using LZ4 encryption. I have a tool to read out its contents, but not to recompress it, so most likely manually editing the file will not be a convenient workaround.

If you want to create and install "date range" Google search plugins, I have a tool from a couple years ago here, but it's for google.com, it doesn't know about different locales (yet): https://www.jeffersonscher.com/res/googletime.php

Jscher, thank you very much !

On mycroft there is : "GoogleDate1Year (google.com) " This is exactly what I wanted and could create in former Versions of firefox. Nevertheless, I'd like do know how to do it myself. Have you any hints ? Else its ok, I'm just curious. Best Regards.

@Jscher2000 Thanks again. You gave me the key to solve my Problem. I could modify "GoogleDate1Year (google.com) " for me to use www.google.de , search date: last year

mycroft site was really a good advice Regards Waldi Berlin Germany
